Rose Gold + Oxblood

I love the look of a simple eye with a deep stunning lip, it is very “runway inspired”. While I like a simple eye I needed something more interesting this time, no plain gold, flesh tones, or shimmery highlight colors.

Also, I wanted the lips to be a TRUE oxblood color, so I needed something in that color family to balance it out. It stumped me for a bit, I’m not gonna lie… then I thought rose gold! The gold would be complimentary to my skin tone and the rose would bring out the oxblood, perfect!

Yes, in theory…I swatched and swatched and found nothing in my collection that could be classified a “true” rose gold…. Darn! Well I’m not one to give up easily, so I thought “well, if I don’t have it, I’m gonna make it” and now I’m gonna tell you how to mix two colors you already have and get the perfect rose gold.

Instructions:

Apply a good primer, I used UD primer potion, then with a clean finger go into a true gold shadow (I used E.L.F. Essentials in Golden Glow $1!), pick some up and roll the color into your lid up to your crease (the rolling motion is important it helps the shadows “stick” to each other). Next find a shimmery or even frosty pink and layer it in the same rolling motion over the gold (I used the WetnWild trio in “I’m getting sunburned” I know there is what appears to be a gold within this pallet but it is too bronze to work for this look), do this until you achieve the correct color for your skin. That’s it! No brushes used today! I did add a tiny bit of a matte brown to my outer v to define it a bit, but you can skip that part. I wanted the color to shine so I skipped the liner, but I did tight line and apply two coats of mascara.

Now for the lips I used black eyeliner to LIGHTLY line and fill in my lips, then over the top went my trusty WetnWild lipstick in 522A (burgundy) then a layer of 509A (deep red). These three colors = perfect oxblood lips.

That’s all friends, try this look and your face will thank you, these colors are very on trend and your face will feel super cool, trust me 🙂

Have fun!
